(Sky Channel 413, Virgin Media 545) FIA WRC: VIVA MEXICO The World Rally Championship screens on Motors TV in 2010 and after February’s opening round in Sweden, there’s a radical change in conditions for round 2, which takes place during the first weekend of March in Mexico in a unique and challenging terrain!
Sébastien Loeb won the last edition of this rally in 2008 and this season he is aiming for a seventh world title, to equal the record of Michael Schumacher in F1. However his task has gotten harder this year with a more competitive field of rivals: Mikko Hirvonen, runner-up in 2009 and ready to go one better and take the crown, Jari-Matti Latvala, Hirvonen’s team-mate at Ford and a driver maturing with every rally, and not forgetting Petter Solberg, always capable of remarkable performances.
But for the Frenchman, there are also multiple threats inside his own camp with Citroën boasting a driver roster including Dani Sordo, Sebastien Ogier and Kimi Raïkkönen. The 2007 F1 World Champion is learning the art of the WRC at the highest level possible and could prove to be a formidable opponent!
As with the opening round of the championship, and for each of the season’s 13 events, Motors TV dedicates itself to the WRC, handing over its schedule to provide exceptional coverage of the WRC.
Unusually, owing to the time difference in Mexico, the daily highlights will be broadcast the day after every stage.
WRC – Round 2, Rally Mexico:Leg 1 (48 minute highlights): Saturday 6 March at 10am, 1pm and 10.20pm. Leg 2 (48 minute highlights): Sunday 7 March at 10am, 1pm and 10.20pm.Leg 3 (48 minute highlights): Monday 8 March at 10am, 1pm and 7.05pm.ALMS – SEBRING: LE MANS 24 HOURS DRESS REHEARSAL!The American Le Mans Series starts in March with the world’s second most famous endurance race, after Le Mans, the 12 Hours of Sebring. The iconic event usually acts as a dress rehearsal for the French classic in three months time. Last year the Florida circuit was the stage of a major, memorable battle between the Peugeot 908 and the new Audi R15.
At the moment it is unknown if the two big marques will again go head-to-head at Sebring. If they do, then the demanding nature and toughness of the race will be ideal preparation for La Sarthe.
Once again, fans of endurance racing have a not-to-be-missed date for their diaries as the High Speed Television channel brings 13 hours of non-stop LIVE coverage of the event.
Round 1 – 12 Hours of Sebring - Saturday 20 March at 2pm. FORMULA 1 IS BACK!The 2010 F1 season is brewing up to be the most exciting for a long time. The best moments of the Bahrain event will be screened on Saturday 7 March. Three weeks later, the championship challengers from Holden and Ford will return to home ground in Adelaide. Perhaps the most difficult round of the year due to the heat and length of the races (2x250km) as well as the demanding nature of the street track which hosted the Australian GP between 1985 and 1995 is always a challenge.
