Two Chevrolets To Race In WTCC Independents’ Trophy

Darryl O’Young, First Chinese Driver Ever To Take Part In A Full WTCC Campaign

Alongside the Cruzes of Rob Huff, Alain Menu and Yvan Muller, there will be two more Chevrolets competing full-time in the World Touring Car Championship. Bamboo Engineering from England today announced that it will campaign two ex-factory Lacettis in this year’s WTCC Independents’ Trophy. The Newcastle-upon-Tyne squad, which successfully fielded Chevrolet cars in both the British and European Touring Car championships last year, has retained as drivers Harry Vaulkhard and Darryl O’Young, who will be the first Chinese driver ever to take part in a full WTCC season.

Darryl O’Young, a 29-year-old professional driver living in Hong-Kong, comes from GT racing, where he has won twice the Porsche Carrera Cup Asia and three times the Macau GT Grand Prix. He has also taken part in the FIA-GT and in endurance races such as the Le Mans and Spa-Francorchamps 24 Hours.

Harry Vaulkhard, 24-years old from Britain, has been a front-runner in the BTCC the last two seasons, after winning the Seat Cupra Cup in 2007.
