Facu Regalia will take part in the Formula BMW Europe this season, a year that will be very important to him. The young Argentinean driver drove for Eurointernational, with whom he was the third best rookie in 2008 and won the Okayama races at 2009, and for Jose Kaufmann Racing, but signed with Eifelland Racing for this season and is confident that he has the conditions to tackle championship organized by BMW in good shape. Now, Regalia reveals himself as a person.
- What do you like to do when you are away from the races?“Well, I like sport activities in general and when I’ve the time I play paddel, tennis, football and ping-pong. In the Winter I do snowboard and in the Summer I do windsurf. Besides, I like to run which is important to my fitness.”
- How do you keep studying and racing at the highest level at the same time?“That’s really hard because, with the tests and the race weekends, I’ve to miss the class so many days. I’ve to organize my time very well so I can y ése es uno de los retos que tengo que conseguir pero sin olvidar otros igual de importantes.”
- Do you think you are losing your youth, as you can’t do the same things as the others young men?“I don’t think so. When I’m not in the race weekends or in testing or school tests, I go out with my friends and I take a good time. Nevertheless, I want to be racing driver, so sometimes I’ve to do some sacrifices in my personal life.”
- What do you usually do to prepare yourself for the Formula BMW Europe Championship?“Usually I try to train every time I’ve the opportunity to do it. Three or four days per week, one and half to two hours a day, I go to the gym where I prepare my endurance and my muscles. I do some running, too, bicycling, etc… I’ve a person that accompanies me to improve my muscular mass. To say the truth, I think that the Formula BMW Championship isn’t so demanding, but it’s important to be well prepared for the day in which I’ll be in a superior championship like Formula 3 or GP3.”
- What’s your personal goal in the racing world?“My main goal is, as always with any young racing driver, to reach Formula 1, but, as I say, if for any problem I can’t reach that objective, because it’s really hard to be a Grand Prix driver, I would love to race professionally in other championship. But today my main goal is to tackle each race of this season in a way that allows me to end the championship in the three first places.”
- As you see yourself as a driver?“I see myself as a fast driver, I know what to do in each moment and I think I’m physically and emotionally strong. I think that I don’t do too many mistakes, but I’m human and make my own errors, but I try to learn with them.
- How is your relationship with the other Formula BMW Europe drivers, who are your rivals, too?“I’ve a good relationship with the Spanish drivers, mainly with Javier Tarancón and Dani Juncadella, though this one went to Formula 3 this season. With the drivers from other countries I have no problems, but in the racing track there is no friends.”
