The Italian Grand Prix will remain at Monza after track officials signed a four-year extension with formula one supremo, Bernie Ecclestone.
The Monza circuit has hosted all but one of the country's grand prix events since its foundation over 60 years ago but the existing deal was due to expire at the end of next year.
Claudio Vigano, head of SIAS said, "The Italian Grand Prix will be at Monza until 2016. The extension of the contract has been signed."
Prior to the extension of the agreement Ecclestone had entertained the idea of staging the circuit in the winding streets of the Italian capital.
Last year's race was won by Brazilian, Rubens Barrichello. This season's Italian Grand Prix will take place September 12.
