Marque specialist Mark Sumpter has entered the 2010 Porsche Club Championship racing the same 911 3.2 Carrera he campaigned 15-years ago. Having competed in endurance racing and Group C in recent seasons, the Paragon Motorsport team were due to be at the meetings running a 997 GT3 for Stephen Ritchie in the Porsche GT3 Cup Challenge, which will now be joined in the transporter by Mark’s Class One 911.
“I’ve bought back the first Porsche I ever raced,” says Mark. “I originally sold my VW Beetle to buy this car and raced it in 1994, it’s the 911 3.2 Carrera last used by Andy Purdie in the Porsche Club Championship in 2005. We are going to be at the meetings running a GT3 Cup Challenge car for Stephen Ritchie, and are looking to run a second car in that series, but want to take the chance to do as many of the rounds as we can with the Carrera.
“I think I am the only car out there without ABS, but I should be the lightest and we have always had a good relationship with the Porsche Club and Steve Kevlin, so I am really looking forward to Brands Hatch on the 10th. It’s a bit of a race against time to get the car ready, but it’s our local circuit and we are keen to get out there.
The 2010 Porsche Club Championship will be contested over 15-rounds at the countries leading circuit, and includes a visit to the Zolder circuit in Belgium in May. Opening round is at Brands Hatch on April 10th. At most rounds the series is joined by the Porsche Club’s new series – the Porsche GT3 Cup Challenge.
