BIG EVENT LATEST...JOSH Auty is aiming to break his Lakeside jinx when he takes his place in the British Under-21 Final on April 16 (8pm).The gritty Yorkshireman has a big year ahead as he rides for both Premier League Sheffield and his parent club Coventry in the Elite League. And he's put a good display in the national Under-21 final high on his list of priorities against the likes of reigning champion Lewis Bridger and new Grand Prix star Tai Woffinden."I'm normally pants around Lakeside," said Auty with a smile on his face. "I guess I have to go there with an open mind and see what I can achieve, who knows what can be done?"Because I don't normally go so well around there I can go there with a relaxed attitude but at the same time I'm determined to have a good meeting and it would be lovely for me to get on the rostrum."It's something I feel capable of achieving. If my bikes are set up well and I feel good on the night then I can do some damage."It's a good line-up with Lewis and Tai the big guns obviously, but it's a major challenge for me to ride against those guys and I'll look forward to it."I'm pleased to have my career going in the right direction once again because I felt I went backwards in 2008 and it was nice for me to do so well for Sheffield last season."Now I have a big season on my hands and it's all very exciting. I'm like a lot of the other young lads, I would ride every night if it was possible!"The British Under-21 Final is the first event in the 2010 Super 7even series. The next event is the British Final at Wolverhampton and the line-up will be known for that after the semi-finals at King's Lynn and Sheffield in May.Further news updates and line-ups for major events in British Speedway are available at speedwaygb.com - the official website of the British Speedway Promoters' Association.

ELITE LEAGUE LATEST...
BELLE VUE skipper Hans Andersen says there is far more to come from the new-look Aces after they secured a 47-43 win over Wolverhampton in their first home Elite League fixture.Andersen said: "I didn't score as many points as I would have hoped after winning my first race so it was nice to see that there were other riders in the team who could go out and win races instead. It is an enjoyable team to be in."The team will get a lot better as the new boys learn the best way round and also as the new pairings of riders learn how to race together."COVENTRY boss Alun Rossiter is looking at potential targets after winter signing Christian Hefenbrock was ruled out for around three weeks with ankle ligament damage.Rossiter said: "I spent the weekend looking at options after Christian's crash, as it's clear to me that we aren't strong enough to use rider replacement throughout the busy period we have coming up."I have a few irons in the fire and I'm hoping to get one of them concluded shortly to come in as an injury replacement for Christian, and then we'll look at things again when he's fit."EASTBOURNE boss Trevor Geer was a frustrated man after seeing his side drop more home points with a draw against Lakeside.Geer said: "We were lucky to get a draw in the end, I couldn't see us getting back into it at one stage. We're chucking too many points away and we've got to stop it. "We were relieved to get a draw, but the way Dawid (Lampart) is riding, we should be trouncing teams."IPSWICH have announced plans to stage the Billy Sanders Memorial meeting at Foxhall on Thursday April 29.The meeting will take the form of a Best Pairs event with three pairs of Australian riders and three British pairs with a number of the sport's rising stars involved.A host of Sanders' contemporaries, including Tony 'Shrimp' Davey, Colin Cooke, Mick Lanham, Preben Eriksen and Kevin Jolly, will be invited to attend.LAKESIDE picked up two points for a hard-fought draw at Eastbourne on Good Friday and now re-launch their home programme against Coventry this week.Hammers duo Krzysztof Kasprzak and Adam Shields both overtook Eagles skipper Cameron Woodward in Heat 15 of the Arlington encounter to make sure of the45-45 outcome.PETERBOROUGH No.8 Joel Parsons made a stunning debut for the club with paid-nine in the Good Friday home win over Coventry, and the Australian has now been handed another booking in Wednesday's trip to title favourites Poole.Parsons said: "I want to do as many meetings as I can. It's brilliant to start the season with an Elite League club rather than coming in half way through the season. It gives me chance to gel with everyone early on and get to know everyone. "I will never say no to Peterborough when they want me, as long as my Scunthorpe commitments allow. I want to keep it rolling and take on every meeting I can. The more meetings the better!"POOLE face home and away clashes with Peterborough this week - with the two sides the most hotly-tipped by the pundits at this stage for success this season. The Pirates go into the meetings after an emphatic 57-35 victory over reigning champions Wolverhampton on Easter Sunday.Boss Neil Middleditch said: "As a group the boys had precious little time on the newly laid circuit because of the weather, but none of them disappointed and it was a very positive performance. But things don't get any easier and the visit of Peterborough will be tough, that is for sure."SWINDON have been amongst the clubs hit the worst by the poor early season weather, with both of their Easter fixtures against Ipswich abandoned.Robins convincingly led the home match and were very much in contention at Foxhall before a halt was called.Manager Ronnie Russell said: "It had got too dangerous at that stage, so it's all to do again. There's no plusses and no minuses and there's certainly no winners. The public are the losers on both sides."I thought we could have had three wins from three and we've now not got that luxury. That would have been a wonderful position to be in." WOLVERHAMPTON secured the first three-point haul of their title defence by overcoming Belle Vue 50-43 at Monmore Green on Tuesday.Aussie youngster Ty Proctor was the star of the show as he shared in no fewer than four 5-1 race results, and No.1 Fredrik Lindgren dropped his only points in the last race when the result was already safe.Lindgren said: "It was a tough meeting, especially when they got that 8-1, but we're pleased to get all three points and it's a good way to open our league campaign."PREMIER LEAGUE LATEST...BERWICK have made a terrific start to their Premier Trophy programme with home and away wins over Workington over the Easter period.Club co-owner John Anderson said: "Following a slow start to the year, now we're into the serious competition we are a better side that people may have realised, taking six points off the Comets in two days. That puts us on top of the table which is a place I like to be, and I think the lads will equally be determined to keep us there."BIRMINGHAM boss Graham Drury was satisfied to take a point from Monday's Premier League opener at Rye House, with the Brummies restricting the Rockets to a four-point win.Drury said: "There are not many teams that will come here and get anything from Rye House, it's such a difficult place to come and get a result. But I thought all the lads dug deep and we deserved to take something out of the meeting because of all our hard work."EDINBURGH insist they are not out of the race for the Premier Trophy semi-finals despite slipping to a home defeat against Newcastle - despite having led 14-4 after three races.Chairman Alex Harkess said: "We are now looking to win two or three away matches to get back into contention in the Premier Trophy section. It is not impossible, we are capable of doing it."GLASGOW turned the tables on Newcastle after slipping to a home defeat on Sunday by pulling off a dramatic 47-43 win in the return Premier Trophy encounter thanks to a last-heat 5-1 from Travis McGowan and James Grieves.Co-promoter Alan Dick said: "Given that we had lost on Sunday, the team got together and wanted to show that they are a decent side and I think that they did just that. It has been a strange group so far with four away wins and just the one home win, and the funny thing is I think there are plenty more twists and turns to come before the group is over."KING'S LYNN get their home Premier Trophy campaign underway a week later than scheduled with the visit of Rye House on Wednesday evening.Manager Rob Lyon said: "I feel quite confident that the team can show the fans that we have a real chance of keeping hold of some silverware this season. For various reasons some of the riders have had some mechanical problems but I have been encouraged by the team's attitude and determination." .NEWCASTLE missed the chance to take control of their Premier Trophy group having won at Glasgow on Sunday - by losing out to the same opponents on their own track the following afternoon.Manager George English said: "The Tigers thoroughly deserved their victory, though if we had performed anywhere near our best we would have taken the points."NEWPORT made a flying start to their Premier Trophy programme with a 51-41 win over holders King's Lynn - with skipper Leigh Lanham and Craig Watson proving to be a potent combination.Lanham said: "We all chipped in with vital points. I was happy with my performance, only dropping two points, whilst Wato had only dropped one going into the final heat. Our partnership is particularly strong at home and we had put in a few 5-1's already."REDCAR are set to receive another stern test of their home form with the visit of Birmingham on Thursday - with boss Brian Havelock demanding improvement after last week's defeat to Sheffield.Havelock said: "'The boys have been left in doubt what I am expecting of them. This is a tough encounter but the attitude at Scunthorpe on Monday was first class. Praise especially to Jan Graversen who was our top scorer there and is giving us points and options from reserve."RYE HOUSE have become the first team to win a Premier League fixture this season with their hard-fought success over Birmingham on Easter Monday. The Rockets came through a last-heat decider as top-scorers Linus Sundstrom and Stefan Ekberg shared the points in Heat 15 for a 47-43 win, with reserve Kyle Hughes also notching double figures from five rides.SCUNTHORPE made it three home Premier Trophy wins out of three with victory over Redcar in another hugely entertaining fixture at the Eddie Wright Raceway.Promoter Rob Godfrey said: "That meeting was quite simply as good as speedway gets. We've talked about us producing the best racing in the country but it's wrong. It's the best racing in the world. I defy anyone to say they have seen better speedway than that."SHEFFIELD have been boosted by their Good Friday win at Redcar after the frustration of seeing two successive home matches rained-off.Owner Neil Machin said: "It was a vital meeting to get our season going after the catastrophic rain-offs. We were so proud of the team for the way they went about their business. Hopefully now we can use the confidence gained to get some good results over the next few days."SOMERSET promoter Debbie Hancock was one of many to pay tribute to former Rebels star Paul Fry, who died last week.Hancock said: "Words always seem so inadequate at times like this. Paul will always be a part of Rebels history for the part he played in the club's Premier League Fours Championship win in 2005, but he will also be remembered for being an ultra professional rider, and one that always had time to help out the younger riders."STOKE promoter Dave Tattum is calling for a vast improvement from his side when they face Sheffield at Loomer Road on Saturday.Tattum said: "I'll be looking for things to be turned around over the next few meetings as the performances shown so far, especially at home, have been unacceptable and if some don't up their game then we will have to look at making changes."WORKINGTON suffered home and away Premier Trophy defeats at the hands of Berwick over Easter - with boss Ian Thomas particularly unhappy with the loss at Derwent Park.Thomas said: "We might have won eight of the heats but we only had three different riders who won so that is a reason why we did not get the victory overall. We had six riders who finished last and it is very difficult to try and get a victory when that happens so I am very disappointed."
