Cruze Goes Back With Confidence To Marrakech, Home Of Its First WTCC Win

Moroccan Race Will See A Record 8-Chevrolet Entry Which Includes Three Local Heroes  

After the long break that followed the season-opener in Brazil, it is time for the WTCC to resume action. The second round of the 2010 championship will bring the excitement of world touring car racing to Africa. For the second time, the street circuit of Marrakech will host the Race of Morocco. With no doubt, just mentioning Marrakech brings back wonderful memories to anyone in the Chevrolet team, as the Cruze obtained there a superb double victory in 2009, actually the first WTCC wins of the new Cruze.

That 2009 result left the marker quite high, but the team is committed to score as many points as possible, keeping the focus on what is the ultimate goal for 2010, the title. This Moroccan event will in any case mark a record for Chevrolet, as this will be the WTCC race with the most Chevys on track ever: eight! In addition to the three works Cruze of Rob, Alain and Yvan and to the two Bamboo Engineering Lacettis of Vaulkhard and O’Young that compete in the Independents’ Trophy this year, there will be three additional privateer Lacettis entered in this event. Prepared by Swiss team Maurer Motorsport, they will be entrusted to three local drivers, who will certainly enjoy the support of Moroccan fans: Ismail Sbai, Youssef El-Marnissi and Larbi Tadlaoui.
