Round 3: Somerset Stages Rally, 24th AprilThe dry and dusty stages in Exmoor National Park were the scene of another close MSA English Rally Championship battle between Darren Pinchin and Matt Edwards, with the former emerging victorious.For much of the event the leading pair was separated by only a few seconds from main Class E2 rivals Brian McGuiness, Clive Anstey and Martyn Lewis. It was Anstey who eventually completed the podium ahead of McGuinness, with Lewis having retired after SS9.Matt Griffin was leading Class E1 until leaving the road on SS9, his demise handing the class win to Joe Evett.Andy Burnell and Pete Elkins fought a rally-long battle to be the highest placed two-wheel-drive car on their home event, eventually finishing just six seconds apart and scoring maximum championship points in classes E3 and E5 respectively.Championship positions (provisional) after Round 3 1 Darren Pinchin - 73 points 2 Matt Edwards - 713 Marcel Freling - 564 Martin Copcutt - 535 Mick Smith - 456 Clive Anstey - 44
