SOMERSET are looking for two new signings after Brent Werner announced his intention to stand down from the side. The news follows shortly after Steve Boxall quit the club by text message, and the Rebels are now considering their options with 12.72 points to play with for replacements.Manager Steve Bishop said: "We were grateful for Brent coming into the team at such short notice when he replaced Jay (Herne), but I think the fact he had not really ridden for some ten months or so prior to joining Somerset showed, and knowing Brent as I do, he probably felt that he wasn't doing himself or the team justice."We could go with two mid-averaged riders to give team strength in depth, another option being to sign riders at opposite ends of the averages scale to provide the team with more top end strength, we will have to sit down now and look at the pros and cons of the different options we have available to us."

SHANE Parker will race against Glasgow for the first time in seven years when he appears for King's Lynn in Sunday's Cup-tie at Ashfield.Parker, who spent six hugely successful seasons with the Tigers, has been recruited by the Stars to stand in for broken leg victim Tomas Topinka.Glasgow star James Grieves said: "I have so much respect for Shane as a rider and we had some fantastic times riding together over the past years, but all that does is make me more determined to get one over on him when we race against each other. "I am sure that all the lads will have that same desire and what we have to not lose sight of is that this is the KO Cup and it is a team meeting. We have to not just get the better of Shane, but all the riders, and as current League and Cup holders we are guaranteed that they will put up the most sternest of tests."
