Ollie Millroy came away from rounds 3 and 4 of the 2010 Formula Renault Championship with a solid haul of points after 4th and 5th place finishes.
Driving for Fortec Motorsport, 19 year old Surrey based Millroy scored his best result of the season with a strong drive in both races at Rockingham Raceway in Corby, Northamptonshire.
In the first race of the day wet conditions made the Rockingham track greasy. From 4th on the grid Millroy initially dropped to 5th but set about regaining the position with a relentless pursuit of 4th placed Nick Yelloly. On lap 15, with Millroy pressuring and closing to within less than a second of him Yelloly ran off the track at Tarzan and Ollie slipped by to take the place in very tricky conditions.
A dry track greeted drivers for the 2nd race of the day for which Ollie Millroy lined up 7th on the grid, with around half a second covering the top 10 on the grid. Ollie was up to 5th on lap 6 and maintained this to the end for another good points finish.
Ollie Millroy: After a challenging weekend at Thruxton, it is great to get some good points on the board here at Rockingham. The track was extremely slippery in the first race and an enjoyable test of car and driver, once in the groove I was able to close on Nick Yelloly and take 4th. In race 2 it was good to make up two places and be amongst the front runners all weekend; to come away from Rockingham with 42 points was a good result. Looking forward to another strong run at Brands Hatch next week! ”
Ollie Millroy lies 6th in the 2010 Formula Renault Championship after 4 rounds; next event is at Brands Hatch (Kent) on 2nd of May 2010.
