Make no mistake - Moto GP is the premier motorsport entertainement - to watch Pedrosa rebuff Lorenzo's preliminary moves to take the lead - was absolutely thrilling - these guys have balls made of titanium!

Jorge Pips fellow Spaniard Dani Pedrosa to move to the top of the World Championship standings.

Lorenzo’s Fiat Yamaha team-mate and defending World Champion Valentino Rossi took the final place on the podium. and is now second in the Championship standings.

Pole sitter Pedrosa lead into Turn 1, with Rossi sprinting from Grid 4 follow his lead.

Loris Capirossi crashed out on Lap 3.  Aleix Espargaró also crashed but returned to the track.

Lap 8 saw Ben Spies pitand subsequently retire with a tyre problem.

A the halfway point Lorenzo was closing the gap to Rossi , passing him on Lap lap 21

The home crowd witnessed a highly charged battle between their two countrymen as with just 2 laps to go Lorenzo caught Pedrosa - who  held his line - with a hairs breadth seperating the two riders.

It was all to be decided on  the last lap.

Pedrosa pushed it wide at the Dry Sack corner allowing Lorenzo  through to take the lead and cross the line just 0.543s ahead of Pedrosa.

Nicky Hayden, repeated his fourth spot finish from Qatar, and Casey Stoner crossed the line in fifth with Andrea Dovizioso taking sixth.

Rounding out the top ten were Mika Kallio( from last place on the grid), Melandri, Randy de Puniet  and Álvaro Bautista (Rizla Suzuki)
