Dunlop MSA Formula Ford Championship of Great Britain

Round 2: Knockhill, 8-9 May

Josh Hill, son of 1996 Formula One world champion and Go Motorsport ambassador Damon, scored his maiden Dunlop MSA Formula Ford Championship of Great Britain victory at Knockhill, where Scott Pye won twice to keep alive a fierce championship battle.Hill took advantage of a rare error by championship leader Scott Malvern to snatch the lead of race one at mid-distance. “I was following Scott for the first part of the race," said Hill. "He locked up into the hairpin and I thought, 'I'll have some of that'."Championship protagonist Pye was an early casualty, his Mygale developing a gearbox problem on the green flag lap and expiring on the opening tour. However, the Australian rebounded by winning race two after dicing with Hill and Malvern, both of whom fell down the order as the race wore on.The final race of the weekend was another Formula Ford classic, with Pye, Hill and Malvern separated by hundredths of a second for lap after lap. Pye held off a determined Hill to win, while Malvern broke his two-day-old lap record but had to settle for third. "I think Jamun has really improved this weekend," said Pye. "We've won all three races and then to top it off with a one-two at the end was great.”

Also celebrating a strong weekend was MSA Advanced Apprenticeship in Sporting Excellence (AASE) student Jake Cook, who took a pair of fifth-place finishes and lies sixth in the points table. Results - race one1 Josh Hill 17m, 49.755s2 Scott Malvern +0.203s3 Daniel Cammish +1.689s4 Antti Buri +5.884s5 Jake Cook +8.587s6 Dennis Lind +8.809sScholarship class: Luke Williams +15.151s  Results - race two1 Scott Pye 18m, 18.398s2 Tio Ellinas +9.127s3 Dan de Zille +11.942s4 Jesse Anttila +13.261s5 Jake Cook +20.217s6 James Tucker +24.669sScholarship class: Tristan Mingay +40.879s Results - race three1 Scott Pye 18m, 11.465s2 Josh Hill +0.216s3 Scott Malvern +0.617s4 Dennis Lind +5.952s5 Antti Buri +6.053s6 Dan Cammish +6.848sScholarship class: Luke Williams +16.263sRound 3: Zandvoort, 5-6 June
