A weekend of meetings at Harewood Speed Hillclimb gives spectators their final chances to attend this fascinating form of motorsport during 2010.
Saturday September 18th sees the running of the Greenwood Cup Meeting. MG owners will be much in evidence, with 3 classes made up of MG TFs, MG Midgets, MGBs, MGB GTs and MGB V8s, plus a full supporting cast of hot hatchbacks, sportscars and specialist single seat racing cars.
On Sunday September 19th Harewood’s racing season comes to a close with the Mike Wilson Memorial Meeting. Once again a wide variety of racing machines will be competing on the UK’s longest permanent hillclimb course, including 2 classes of Lotus sportscars and racing cars taking part in the Paul Matty Championship.
Both meetings will feature practice sessions each morning, with timed runs starting after lunchtime. Spectators have free entrance to the competitors’ paddock where they can chat with the drivers and admire the beautifully prepared cars before and after each run up the hill.
Catering and refreshments are available throughout the event, picnic tables and seating are provided and there are trackside displays showing each competitor’s speed and time up the course, plus an informative commentary.
Harewood Speed Hillclimb is located off the A659 Harewood to Collingham road between Leeds & Harrogate and well signposted on all approach roads.
Spectator entrance is just £10 per person for each meeting and children under 14 are free of charge.
Full details of the course and the 2011 meeting dates are available on the website at harewoodhill.com along with some exciting videos of cars racing in what must be Yorkshire’s most scenic motorsport location.
