This year’s RACMSA Rally of Scotland (15-17 October) will offer family audiences arguably the best value-for-money entertainment of any major sporting event in the country in 2010, believes its organiser International Motor Sports.
Admission to all competitive timed stages – from Friday night’s opening action in the grounds of Scone Palace to Saturday’s and Sunday’s spectacular high-speed forest tests through Perthshire and Stirlingshire will be free for children aged 15 and under.
It’s a policy that has been hugely welcomed by the national events agency, EventScotland. Its Chief Operating Officer, Paul Bush OBE, commented: “The Rally of Scotland will take place in some of the most spectacular surroundings we have to offer in Scotland. By offering children the chance to enjoy the experience for free should attract more people to attend and help grow the event from the success of the inaugural edition in 2009.”
IMS Chief Executive Andrew Coe added: “Our pricing structure makes Scotland’s premier international motor sport event hugely attractive for families when compared to other top-line sporting fixtures in the country that same weekend. In fact it’s the only sporting event of such stature that we believe offers free admission for children.
“The opportunity to head outdoors, stand stage-side and watch some of the world’s leading rally drivers and cars in high-speed action against such a stunning backdrop makes Rally of Scotland a terrific adventure for parents and their children as well, of course, the wider public of all ages. In particular, though, it’s an event that has all the ingredients to captivate and excite youngsters and we and the competing crews look forward to seeing many of them out there on our stages.”
In addition, tickets for adults have been reduced in price compared to 2009 yet will offer much better access than on last year’s event. They cost just £10 to watch the Ceremonial Start and opening two stages at Scone, while individual day passes are priced just £20 and provide access to all stages on either Saturday or Sunday.
There’s also the option of a full-event ‘Alba Pass’ for £45 (available to book in advance only) plus extra value for money with the inclusion of a complimentary spectator programme worth £6.50 with every adult ticket.
Tickets can be booked via the official .rallyofscotland.com website or the hotline 0844 847 2488
