Jordan hopes for home race advantage at Donington BTCC

The Dunlop MSA British Touring Car Championship comes to the Donington Circuit in Derbyshire this weekend for the penultimate round of the 2010 season. Staffordshire driver Andrew Jordan regards this weekend’s Donington race as his ‘home event’ and will be looking to capitalize on the potential of a home advantage during Sunday’s three races.

After suffering from a severe stomach virus at the previous round at Knockhill, Scotland two weeks ago, 21 year old Jordan is now back to a full bill of health and will aim to repeat his achievements at the Donington Circuit in last season’s BTCC. Whilst driving for the VX Racing team Jordan (then 19)  secured pole position and in doing so, at the time he became the youngest ever driver to secure a pole position in the BTCC, as well as securing his personal first-ever pole.

Jordan added, “I think getting pole at Donington this season will potentially be tougher than last season - not least because we are in the latter stages of the championship battle and everyone will be stepping up their game. That aside, the Vectra has proven capabilities at Donington and I finished second there last year, so we will go out there to do the best we can with our package.

“The Turbo engine will once again prove to be an asset to us on the long straights, and now with the British weather becoming cooler, we should have optimum performance from it. With only two rounds left it’d be good to achieve some podium finishes before the end of the year and if things start heating up between the championship contenders, we are well placed to step up and take some points whilst they are fighting between themselves.

“It is great to be going to Donington to race his weekend, especially after the turmoil it went through of bidding for the Grand Prix. I regard it as my home event and receive plenty of support from everyone there, so it’s great it has made it on to the BTCC calendar and I can’t wait to go racing this weekend.”

Donington’s BTCC action will start on Saturday morning with the first of two practice sessions followed by the qualifying session during the afternoon. Sunday will see the first of three races kick off just before midday, catch all of the action live on ITV4 throughout the afternoon.
