Formula Renault UK race winner Robert Foster-Jones is the latest front-running talent to be selected to represent Arai.
The highly rated CRS Racing star recently joined an exclusive club of drivers who claimed victories in their debut season of single-seater motorsport, after taking a stunning win at Knockhill on 5 September.
The Essex-based teenager, widely regarded as one of England’s most promising Formula One prospects, will compete in Arai’s GP6-PED complex laminate helmet.
Phoenix Distribution is Arai’s UK importer. Motorsport Brand Manager Toby Warrington says “Robert’s performance at the highest level in karts and never-say-die attitude always made him an exciting driver to watch. Moreover, he never knows when he’s beaten and that makes him as much a driver’s driver as he is a fan’s driver.
He’s got a powerful presence for such a young man, with genuine charm and charisma. His win at Knockhill showed that he has turned a corner and successfully made the transition from karts to cars.”
He added, “We will be supporting Robert all the way on his journey to F1.”
Double British Kart Champion Robert commented, “Lewis Hamilton won in his maiden season in Formula Renault and like him, I have chosen Arai throughout my career. The level of comfort, fit and safety is, in my opinion, the very best available. To be chosen to represent them at this stage of my career is a great honour and one which I aim to reward in the best possible fashion - just as Lewis did before me.”
This was positive news for Toby, who responded, “Now that Robert has shown himself capable of winning in his rookie year (of Formula Renault), we hope to see him fighting for more wins this season, and of course, for the title in 2011 - his second season in cars.”
Robert’s first role as an Arai ambassador was to represent his new brand partner at the recent (8 September) charity fundraiser for injured Superleague Formula racer, Chris van der Drift, at Daytona Raceway in Milton Keynes, where he teamed-up with Toby and Junior karting star, Jack Barlow.
“It was a fantastic night,” explained Robert. “The organisers had done a great job to attract drivers from the BTCC, F1, F3, GP3, Formula Renault, karts, etc and get them to take time out of their schedules to have some fun and raise much-needed money for a fellow racer. Naturally we wanted to win, but on this occasion funding Chris’ continued rehabilitation was the main thing. I am grateful to Toby and Arai for giving me the chance to play my part.”Last weekend (17/19 September) saw Robert competing in the round of the Michelin Formula Renault championship at Silverstone, as part of the annual World Series by Renault motorsport showcase.
