Brands Hatch and Masters announce 3 year Historic Festival plan

Brands Hatch owners MotorSport Vision (MSV) and Masters Historic Racing have announced a new three-year deal to manage and promote a major historic motorsports festival at the Kent circuit over late May Bank Holiday weekend.

After establishing a strong working partnership over the past four years, MSV will continue to host a major historic motorsports festival run by Masters Historic Festival until at least 2013.

The first of these new events will be held on 28/29/30 May 2011, with racing on the shorter Indy circuit on Saturday 28 May, before moving onto the famed Grand Prix track on Sunday and Monday for two further busy race days.

The 2011 Masters Historic Festival will also feature an expanded offering away from the track, including a major classic car auction on the Sunday, flying display and stunt riders, along with an on-track demonstration from a ‘closer to current’ Formula One car, following the successful 2004 Jaguar R5 F1 machine display in 2008.

Masters and MSV also look forward to welcoming many invited one-make car clubs, many of which will take part in a Festival judging of their ‘concours d’elegance’ as a unique collection of classic machinery gathers at the Kent venue.

“Our aim for the 2011 edition of the Masters Historic Festival at Brands Hatch is to greatly expand the off-track offer, while keeping the high quality and excellent racing of this and previous years,” said Masters director, Christopher Tate. “We are delighted that Jonathan Palmer and his team have agreed to a long-term contract to expand and develop what has already become a fixture on the international historic sporting calendar, and we will be unveiling further news and good surprises during the during the winter off season.”

Jonathan Palmer, Chief Executive of MotorSport Vision, added: “I’m delighted to welcome the Masters Festival back to the Brands Hatch Grand Prix circuit for 2011 and beyond. Christopher Tate and his team have done an excellent job over the past four years to create and built one of the most important historic events on the calendar, and we look forward to working together on some exciting plans to further enhance its competitor and spectator appeal.”
