The Hagerty Hill Climb returns to the legendary Shelsley Walsh on Saturday 9th May 2026, inviting enthusiasts to experience one of the world’s most celebrated motorsport venues. Set against the picturesque backdrop of the Worcestershire countryside, Shelsley Walsh is not only among the finest hill climb courses in the UK, it is also the oldest motorsport venue in the world in continuous use, hosting competition since 1905.

Over the decades, thousands of cars have tackled the famous hill, from everyday road cars to Formula 1 machinery, driven by everyone from first-timers to motorsport icons including Sir Stirling Moss.

Today, the Hagerty Hill Climb blends this rich heritage with a vibrant enthusiast atmosphere. Visitors can expect thrilling on-track action, paddock attractions, great food and drink and acres of stunning scenery, making it an unforgettable day out for enthusiasts and families alike.

Spectator tickets start from just £30 per car with an Early-bird discount available until 15th February, offering outstanding value and access to the full experience. For those wanting to go beyond watching and truly immerse themselves, entrants can drive their own car up the hill for £150, with discounts available and three guaranteed runs throughout the day. No competition experience is required and all cars are welcome, from cherished classics and hot hatches to daily drivers, simply bring your car and enjoy the thrill.

Seven Fun Performance Cars for Under £10,000
Not sure you have the right car to make the most of the event? Well, Hagerty has selected seven affordable and entertaining cars that promise maximum smiles per mile and are perfectly suited to the Shelsley Walsh course.

Mazda MX-5
Ask anyone what they would choose for a summer car to have fun with and chances are the answer will be the Mazda MX-5. These Japanese two-seaters are affordable, reliable, easy to drive and above all, fantastic fun. The third generation ‘NC’ is remarkably affordable right now, plus it has more poke than earlier models and the 2.0 litre version has a lovely six-speed gearbox.

R50/R53 Mini
The BMW Mini provides one of the best driving experiences you can have in a front-wheel drive hatchback. Its fantastic chassis, great handling and superb engines make it ideal for the Shelsley Walsh course and the Mini is remarkably affordable, with plenty of aftermarket accessories and lots of clubs to offer advice.

Seven Replica
You don’t have to buy a Lotus Seven to enjoy the thrill of this famous classic, instead why not jump into a replica, undoubtedly one of the best value cars to enjoy summer driving fun and motorsport action. You could get behind the wheel of a Locost, Westfield, Tiger, Dax or Robin Hood at a price to suit your budget and each will deliver miles of driving pleasure.

MG Midget/Austin-Healey Sprite
Old Midgets and Sprites are hugely popular classic grassroots motorsport options. They aren’t super fast, but they have almost all the characteristics you’d want in a sprint or hill climb machine: lightweight, compact, responsive, packed with feedback, and pretty solid mechanically. Basic road cars start at under five grand, and you’ll have a joyful little weekend car for that too, not just a racer.

Peugeot GTI
It’s not all about the 205 GTI you know, Peugeot had a number of models that wore the famous three letters and which today deliver great fun for great money. You might find a 106 or 205 GTI for under ten grand, but for the best value we suggest looking for a 206 GTI or a 306 GTI. The 306 is a 90s bargain right now, especially if you can find the six-speed GTI-6 while the 206 GTI is cheap as chips, even for the more powerful GTI 180.

Renault Sport Clio 197
Just as the third-generation Mazda MX-5 offers the best bang per buck among roadsters, so the Clio 197 is probably the sweet spot for quick Renault hatchbacks right now. With prices rising for the 172 and 182 Sport Clio models, the slightly heavier 197 with its 194bhp two-litre engine still delivers loads of va-va voom and because it’s a bit wider, it handles really well too.

OMS single-seater
If you want the real Formula 1 experience on a budget then a single-seater race car from OMS is just the ticket. Most of them use a 750cc or one-litre motorcycle engine to deliver genuine driving thrills with some versions even having launch control and flat-shifting. You can easily get into a decent one for £6500 but this isn’t one you can drive to Shelsley Walsh, you’ll definitely a trailer.
