COVENTRY will stage their Elite League title homecoming with a home clash against local rivals Wolverhampton next Friday. The Bees won the Championship at Poole on Monday and will parade the trophy at Brandon - and co-promoter Colin Pratt says Midlands pride will be at stake as the last two title-winners meet.He said: "We want to set the record straight after the closest of decisions robbed us of a replay against them in the Knockout Cup recently, and we're grateful they have accepted the invitation to return because there is always some great speedway when we race each other."It's a celebration night where we salute the magnificent achievements of our team but we also wanted to put on a fully competitive meeting, and there's no doubt we will have just that. It's a night that everyone will be able to enjoy."

SCUNTHORPE advanced to the semi-finals of the Young Shield - despite a big scare at Somerset on Friday. The Scorpions travelled to the Oak Tree Arena with a massive 70-20 first leg lead but found themselves under big pressure at 39-9 down after eight races.A win for Magnus Karlsson in Heat 9 steadied the nerves and David Howe then doubled-up a second place for four points, with the final outcome being 65-29 to the Rebels.Relieved Scunthorpe boss Richard Hollingsworth said: "It may not have been a classic performance from the Scorpions but despite our very slow start the riders worked hard to find the right set-ups and in the end we were able to cope without Tero Aarnio and Jerran Hart.."We live to fight another day and hopefully on Sunday night or Monday morning we'll find out who our opponents will be. The Rye House/King's Lynn tie is finally balanced but Newport are through and it looks like Workington will be the other side."
