Ollie and Manor Competition competed in the final two rounds of the 2010 Formula Renault Championship this weekend at Brands Hatch, where the young Surrey driver got off to a strong start during qualifying 1 topping the times from the word go. Determined as ever to get the quickest time, with only three minutes to go, Ollie pushed to set one final quick lap but unfortunately made a mistake costing him pole position but still managed to Qualify fifth for race one on Sunday morning. A change of set up prior to Qualifying 2 turned out to be a wrong decision and unfortunately Ollie could only manage to qualify ninth for race two.In race 1 Ollie anticipated the start too soon and had to hold back to make sure he wouldn’t receive a drive through penalty for jumping the start. This caused him to lose momentum and he dropped two places to seventh but soon got on the pace with a good run up into druids and he back sixth place from Riki Christodoulou, where he finished the race.Starting 9th in race 2 Ollie had his usual quick start and with his fast pace overtook three cars in the first lap, moving himself up to sixth place where he passed the checkered flag.
'The weekend has been really challenging for me and the team said Ollie and there has be lots of unsuspected hurdles in the way. I think Manor Competition and I have dealt with it well and bringing home two sixth places has been a reward for the hard work everyone put in".
