■Funding given as a thank you following treatment to injured Škoda UK Motorsport driver, Guy Wilks

Škoda has donated £500 to the Multiple Sclerosis Centre in Middlesbrough as a thank you for the treatment that rally-ace, Guy Wilks, received earlier this year following serious back injuries as a result of a crash during the Rally d’Italia Sardegna.

Now fully recovered, Guy has already returned to the rally car having recently contested the RACMSA Rally of Scotland which he won in 2009. Škoda has expressed their gratitude for the excellent treatment that Guy received at the hands of the centre by making their donation.

Having suffered fractures to his first and second lumbar vertebrae in the accident, Guy underwent intensive treatment in the oxygen chamber at the Multiple Sclerosis Therapy Centre.

Established in 1985, the centre is an independent charity that provides therapy and support to MS sufferers and their families. They offer treatments aimed at limiting the problems of MS including high dosage oxygen treatment, physiotherapy, yoga, therapeutic massage, reflexology, aromatherapy and counselling.

Catherine Sleigh, Head of Press and PR Škoda UK, comments: “The treatment that Guy received from the MS Therapy Centre in Middlesbrough was fantastic and helped him enormously throughout his recovery which is why we were so keen to make a donation to them to express our gratitude.”

Alan Riddiough, General Manager for the Multiple Sclerosis Therapy Centre, adds: “We’d like to thank Škoda for their very generous donation, it will go a long way towards helping us provide treatments and therapy to our patients. We’re really pleased that Guy has made such a full and strong recovery.”
