2XP Racing plots Porsche Carrera Cup GB campaign
2XP Racing is the latest team to unveil plans to enter the Porsche Carrera Cup GB in 2011. Although the team name is new, the people behind it have extensive motor sport experience and the two team principles will bring over 60 years of experience to the project.The project is the work of Paul Crosby and Paul Field and they plan to run a two-car team, subject to the allocation of cars. The team will be based in Brackley, running in parallel to the highly respected Crosby Composites Ltd.Crosby brings more than 40 years of experience right across the sport and has been race engineer to drivers like Jean Alesi, David Coulthard and Allan McNish in an extensive career. His Crosby Composites company has been running successfully for 28 years and works on many high-end motor sport projects.Meanwhile, Field was team manager for the Silverline Chevrolet team that ran Jason Plato in the 2009 BTCC. He has over 15 years of experience in team management, ranging across ALMS, Le Mans and Super Touring projects."We love racing and that's what we want to do," said Crosby. "We have a passion for racing and we want to put our experience back into the sport." The team structure will include a chief engineer to work alongside Crosby."We want to bring drivers on, whatever their level of experience," said Field. "There will be a very experienced crew behind the drivers." 2XP is already talking to drivers about the 2011 season and is keen to talk to any drivers interested in joining their Carrera Cup programme.
