Barr races to Belfast Supercross victory

TAS Racing enjoyed a successful return to off road action on Saturday night in Belfast, taking local man Martin Barr to a debut British Supercross Championship victory in front of a packed audience at the Odyssey Arena.

It was a one-off appearance for Barr in Relentless by TAS Suzuki livery, but he adjusted well to the TAS Performance-prepared RMZ250F at the tight and technical venue, thrilling a 7000-strong partisan crowd with his British Open class victory. Barr also took the holeshot in the 250 Pro Class and looked a certainty for win number two, but after momentarily stalling his RMZ Suzuki, the Ballyclare rider fought back bravely to take fourth place.

Martin Barr:

"I was very happy with the way things went on the night. I was fastest in morning practice and won both my qualifying heats as the TAS Suzuki worked superbly well for me. I am really pumped to have won the British Open final and should have won the SX2 final also, but I made a silly mistake stalling the bike and ended up fourth. I would like to thank Philip Neill, Davy Turk and Paul Conway for all their help and support and the chance to ride their perfectly set-up RMZ250F. I'd also like to thank Fox, Spy, Agnew Recovery Services and AJ Plumbing."

Philip Neill - Team Manager:

"It's good to be back on the motocross scene, even if it was for one night only. It really was a late call to help Martin, but it's always pleasing to support local talent and I must give the lad credit - he did a great job on the Relentless by TAS Suzuki RMZ250F. It was also nice to give our sponsors some additional, if not surprising representation at such a high profile event. All our road racing team members were there cheering Martin on, so it was a good night all round. I must also give credit to the boys in our Performance Centre as they did an excellent job preparing a motocross machine to suit the arduous Supercross challenge in such a short space of time."
