POOLE have won the Elite League Knockout Cup after a tense last-heat decider against south coast rivals Eastbourne. The Eagles resolutely defended their eight-point first leg advantage at Wimborne Road, and they were just one adrift on aggregate going into the deciding race, mainly thanks to a 5-1 from Matej Zagar and Joonas Kylmakorpi in Heat 13.With the same combination on-track in Heat 15 for the visitors, the pressure was on the Pirates - but Chris Holder and Bjarne Pedersen delivered maximum points for the home side for a five-point aggregate success.Holder said: "We put a lot of effort in to miss out in the League, and we wanted this so much. "There was lot of pressure on, but me and Bjarne stuck it out and we did it.We wanted to put on a good meeting tonight and I think that sure happened."
