Porsche Carrera Cup GB is a sell-out for 2011

The Porsche Carrera Cup GB is already a sell-out for the 2011 season after all the available cars were sold in record time. A total of 32 of the latest model 911 GT3 Cup cars are being built in Stuttgart for the coming season and all the cars have been sold, with over five months still to go until the opening races of the new season. To cope with unprecedented demand, the Carrera Cup grid is being extended to 32 cars from the 28 of 2010, with 32 being the highest number that can be accommodated at all the tracks on the BTCC schedule. This ensures that every registered driver will be able to race at every event, without running into issues of not qualifying. Two of the 2011 model cars will be allocated to the Carrera Cup Scholarship winners, Benji Hetherington and Kieran Vernon, while teams and drivers immediately snapped up the other cars. Many existing drivers and teams are continuing in the championship, while four new teams will join the grid in 2011. The new squads are Team Dynamics, Triple Eight Race Engineering, 2XP Racing and Trackspeed."We knew that interest in the Carrera Cup was running very high for 2011," said championship manager Marion Barnaby. "But this response has broken records and exceeded even our most ambitious targets for the new season. The response to the new model 911 GT3 Cup car has been overwhelming. The 2011 season is going to be an incredible one for the Carrera Cup GB."
