Ollie Millroy Back from the brink

Two second place finishes and fastest lap of the day following disrupted qualifying

Ollie scored two very solid second place finishes in the first two rounds of the Formula Renault UK Winter Cup at Snetterton, following a disappointing qualifying session, which was disrupted by slower cars. Starting sixth in the first race the young Claygate driver made his usual solid start moving up to fourth at the first corner and then third at the second corner to get himself into a good position to challenge the leaders. Another very good move put him up to second place but tyre wear prevented him challenging for the lead. Starting eighth in the second race Ollie again made a very good start and within two laps he was up to third place. With blistering pace he soon moved up to second and started to chase the leader who by now was over five seconds ahead. Consistently setting fastest laps and only 0.04 seconds off the lap record, Ollie took over a second a lap off the lead to finish the race right behind the winner.

"All in all, considering the problems we had in qualifying with slow cars, we're pleased with our results today and got the best we could from almost nothing. I was very quick in qualifying but when I went for my ultimate lap, purpling sector one, and on pole after sector two, a much slower car completely messed me up relegating me back on the grid. As usual Manor Competition gave me a car that I feel very confident with so I just got my head down and went for it. Two podiums, second place in the championship!  fastest lap of the day! I think we did a good job and have something to take to Pembrey next weekend. Bring it on!".
