Anglo American Oil Company Ltd, the European and Middle East distributor for Sunoco race fuels, have been appointed by Britcar to supply the control fuels for all their series, meaning that the Britcar MSA British Endurance Championship will be eligible for the Sunoco Rolex 24 At Daytona Challenge.
The Britcar MSA British Endurance Championship is a 9 round MSA Championship for GT cars. The championship comprises of 3 classes based on the power to weight ratio of the cars. The races are all ‘endurance’ events with mandatory pit stops to allow for driver changes and refuelling with the majority of races between 2 and 4 hours in duration.
The highlight of the year is the 24 hour race at Silverstone which brings an eclectic mix of professional and amateur race teams together to battle for class honors around the clock. This year Anglo American Oil Company delivered drums of Sunoco race fuels to the back of the teams’ garages throughout the event. The Sunoco team worked really hard throughout the 24 hours to ensure no one was without fuel and carried out the task extremely successfully. This event enabled Sunoco to show Britcar that they had what it takes to serve such a logistical challenge and could be relied on at future events.
Anders Hildebrand MD of Anglo American Oil Company is delighted to have Britcar on board: ‘It’s fantastic that Britcar have chosen us as their control fuel supplier. We have for many years supported the Britcar series at their race weekends as their official fuel supplier and are now delighted to step up our commitment to a control fuel supplier status and further develop our great relationship.’
With choosing Sunoco as their control fuel Britcar has given its drivers in the Britcar MSA British Endurance Championship the chance to be part of the Sunoco Rolex 24 At Daytona Challenge and therefore the chance to race in the Rolex 24 At Daytona.
James Tucker MD of Britcar said: ‘I would like to say a big thank you to AAOIL for recognising our drivers’ abilities and that they are of a world class level to potentially compete in a world class race.’
With Britcar now in the running, alongside drivers from Radical UK Cup and Radical Masters, British F3 and British GT, the competition will be even fiercer with more drivers looking to get their hands on arguably the biggest prize in UK motorsport history.
