News from Castle Combe Action Days

2011 ACTION DAY DATES ANNOUNCED ALL PRICES HELD

Castle Combe's four well-established and popular Action Days have again enjoyed a good year, with well over 350 clubs displaying almost 5,000 cars, ranging across the four days from classics to the latest supercars.

Although the well-proven format will continue for 2011, we have included some new ideas in response to customer feedback.

SPRING PERFORMANCE CAR ACTION DAY SATURDAY 9 APRIL

Due to a late Easter and the Royal Wedding, performance car drivers can look forward to a blast of adrenalin earlier than usual. The most popular of the four days and usually close to selling out prior to the event, the Performance Day does what it says in the title. Over 100 clubs attended in 2010 and we look forward to seeing them and others return in 2011.    Increasingly, clubs are booking exclusive sessions; not only are these great value, but you know who you are sharing the circuit with and can advise your club members of the time well in advance, to make for a more relaxed visit.    The Drifters will be back to entertain us with a lunch-time display of performance and car control. Plus, we have a few new ideas which will be announced in due course, to make the event and your visit even more enjoyable.

CLASSICS & SPORTS CARS DAY SATURDAY 11 JUNE -

NEW IDEAS The event which originally started Action Days back in the 1980s continues to be a popular event. The owners of cherished cars and owners' clubs can now book to take part in our special club parades. These circulate behind a pace car at 20-to-30mph, with just four club groups on track, each with their own lead car. These new sessions give owners and their families a great opportunity to take to the circuit, stopping for a few moments on the finish line for a group photograph.    We have also created an area for those who just wish to display their cars, but not to drive them on the track, positioning these clubs in a dedicated, traffic-free area.    Car of the Year this year will be the Austin Healey, with the owners' club promising one of the biggest turn-outs for some years of this iconic British sports car.

SUMMER PERFORMANCE CAR ACTION DAY SATURDAY 10 SEPTEMBER

Our fastest-growing day offers more of the same as the successful April format. Some special features and attractions are currently being finalised, with details to be released shortly.

MINIWORLD ACTION DAY - SATURDAY 24 SEPTEMBER

In common with many Mini events, we will be celebrating 50 years of the Mini Cooper. MiniWorld has a new owner - Kelsey Publishing - and we will be discussing new features and ideas for the event with them in due course, but for clubs, owners and Mini enthusiasts alike, it will be very much business as usual, with huge club displays, a great trade area, an Autojumble, the growing Mini Boot Sale area, the Mini Cruise and, we hope, some special attractions to entice Mini Cooper owners to this end-of-season fling.

The Mighty Mini Racers will be back: this year, they donated over £1500 from their very popular Fast Passenger Laps to a local disabled lad, which took the total raised over the years to well over £10,000. Probably only Mini Racers would happily wear out their cars, their tyres and their petrol, yet donate every penny raised to worthy causes. Well done, the guys and gals from the Mighty Mini Racing Club.    Castle Combe Action Days are run by the Circuit Team, track time sessions can be purchased at £30 in advance, or £35 on the day, admission charges are £10 per adult with under 16s admitted free. Clubs can apply for free display space, with admission tickets and heavily discounted track time for those accepted.
