Coors to sponsor Milwaukee 225

Beer brand Coors Light has been announced as the official beer of the Izod IndyCar Milwaukee 225 race.

Under the terms of the deal, Coors Light will sponsor the race on 19th June. The brand will have signage and hospitality rights at the Indycar event, which will take place at the Milwaukee Mile race track.

In addition, Coors will title-sponsor the qualifying day. Financial terms of the deal have not been released, though the deal is likely to have a six-figure overall value once all elements are taken into account.

Jim Wright, MillerCoors’ Wisconsin general manager-sales said: “We have a long history of supporting great racing at The Milwaukee Mile and look forward to an exciting race this summer. Coors Light is the perfect complement to an afternoon spent enjoying hot racing action on the track. And thanks to our outstanding partners at Beer Capitol Distributing, we’ll be able to ensure race fans have that ideal experience at the track.”

Wright added that Coors’ sponsorship of the Wisconsin race would be a fillip for the home state of the Green Bay Packers, who will play in Super Bowl XLV a week on Sunday. “The Milwaukee 225 is rich in history, but also about local pride and a promising future. This is an exciting time for the state as well. With the Packers headed to the big game, Wisconsin will be first on the national stage. When the drivers and the teams of the Izod Indycar Series come to town this summer, fans will experience the excitement, danger and speed, while businesses can showcase their wares and show support for this once-in-a-year Wisconsin tradition.“
