Formula One driver Mark Webber has signed on as a brand ambassador for Australian air carrier Qantas.
The new personal endorsement deal sees the Australian driver become a brand ambassador as part of the national airline’s support of the 2011 Formula One Qantas Australian Grand Prix, which will be held on 27th March at the Albert Park Grand Prix Circuit in Melbourne.
The 34-year-old, who finished third in the 2010 world championship, said of his new endorsement deal: "Qantas is such an iconic Australian brand. As a sportsperson, I love representing my country on the world stage and being a Qantas Ambassador mean I can represent Qantas wherever I am in the world. I am very fortunate to be racing in front of my home crowd again and the diver parade lap is when it really hits home that all the Aussie fans are there cheering you on."
“Mark Webber is an Australian sporting champion and we look forward to working with and supporting Mark, not only in Australia but throughout his Grand Prix season globally,” said Qantas chief executive Alan Joyce.
Joyce added: “Qantas has supported the Australian Formula One Grand Prix since its inception 25 years ago and our new relationship with Mark Webber as a Qantas Ambassador is a fitting addition to this partnership.”
