Wright won the MSA British Sporting Trials Championship with his daughter, Bianca, alongside him in the passenger seat. They made for a formidable pairing, scoring six event wins, including four in a row. Wright will contest selected events this year but will not launch a full title defence.
Round 1: Geoff Taylor (Hagley & D.L.C.C.) – 6 February
Roland Uglow won the opening round of the 2011 MSA British Sporting Trial Championship, the Geoff Taylor trial.
Uglow and his passenger, Laura Wilks, drove their distinctive orange Crosslé to the top of each and every hill to win with zero marks lost. The 2008 Champion, John Fack, finished second on six marks, ahead of Simon Kingsley on the same number.
Reigning Champion Ian Wright finished in fourth place, having driven the wrong way early on, while Julian Fack and Ian Veale dropped some costly marks in Round 3 while in contention for podium places. Meanwhile Stephen Barnes won the intermediate class from Pat Henson, with a delighted Josh Veale the winner of the novice class in fifteenth overall.
