SEPTEMBER HEADLINES A GREAT RACING CALENDAR AT ROCKINGHAM
WITH the new motorsport season just around the corner, Rockingham has announced its 2011 provisional race calendar and September is set to be the busiest month.
The Cooper Tires British F3 International Series & Avon Tyres British GT Championship will get the month off to a flyer when some of the world’s future Formula One stars will be on show at the Northamptonshire circuit over the weekend of September 3/4.
The following Saturday (September 10), the world’s first green motor racing series based totally around zero emission electric cars, heads to Rockingham as the circuit hosts the UK’s newest racing series, the Electric Vehicle Cup.
To complete “Super September”, the triple racing-header will also see the return of the Dunlop MSA British Touring Car Championship, which once again provides the headline race meeting to what is a fantastic 2011 season.
Rockingham Director Charlotte Orton said: “Once again we have secured some great race meetings this year from grass root motorsport to club level through to the UK’s most premier motor racing series.
“Although our two biggest race meetings of the season fall in the autumn, we are sure the other events will more than whet the appetite for motor racing fans of all ages before an action-packed September.”
The Britcar MSA British Endurance Race will raise the curtain on the new race season at Rockingham when the championship series returns for a one-day event on Saturday, April 16, with an anticipated packed grid.
There is a two-month break in the racing action before the season gets into full swing with a double racing-header in July with the newly-titled Dunlop Race Meeting making a summer appearance alongside British Racing and Sports Car Club (BRSCC).
The action continues into August with another helping of club racing from the BRSCC, while the British Automobile Racing Club (BARC) returns for a second visit and will bring the curtain down on a fantastic Rockingham season in October.
During each race weekend there will be plenty of opportunity to get close to the racing action with an open paddock and free grandstand seats for everyone.
Rockingham prides itself as being one of the most family-friendly motor racing venues and the circuit is delighted to continue to offer free admission for all children aged 15-years-old and under (maximum two child tickets per one paying adult).
Advance bookings for all race meetings can be made by calling the ticket hotline on 01536 500500 or on-line at rockingham.co.uk - fans who are registered disabled can apply for a free season pass or event ticket for their carer. Written proof is required.
