GruppeM-Eterniti Racing is pleased to announce its participation in the 2011 Le Mans Series in Europe. The team will field a Porsche 911 RSR (997 model) in the GTE (formerly GT2) class. GruppeM head Kenny Chen is a long-time GT enthusiast, enjoying championship-winning success with Porsche machinery in the British GT Championship in 2004, the FIA GT Championship in 2005 and the Asian Porsche Carrera Cup in 2005 and ’07.“We are extremely excited to be returning to top-level GT racing,” said Chen. “The current LMS entry is so strong that we fully expect it to be a huge challenge, but we will be trying our best as a team to come back and fight for the success that we have enjoyed in the past.”The team will be run by Stuart Parker, whose Team Parker Racing organisation has been one of British motorsport’s most-successful teams of the past decade. It is a multiple winner of the Porsche Carrera Cup GB, most recently in 2009, while Parker has engineered successfully in the Porsche Supercup and Asian Carrera Cup. The team has gained experience of endurance racing, principally in the VLN series on Germany’s Nurburgring Nordschleife.“This is an entirely new team, which has been set up with only this project in mind,” said Parker. “We will draw on our strengths and experience with the aim of guiding the team to success.“This represents a fantastic opportunity to move into the highest level of GT competition with a great partner. We have been looking for a partner to do something like this with for years, and at last it has happened. I have enjoyed great success with GruppeM in Asia and look forward to the challenge of the Le Mans Series.”GruppeM-Eterniti Racing expects to take delivery of its Porsche imminently and will be testing before the opening round of the five-race Le Mans Series, which begins with the Le Castellet Six Hours in France on April 3 before visiting Spa-Francorchamps (Belgium) on May 8, Imola (Italy) on July 3, Silverstone (UK) on September 11 and Estoril (Portugal) on September 25.The team is working on securing the services of former British Touring Car Championship race winner Stephen Jelley, who finished third in last season’s Carrera Cup GB and took two race wins with Team Parker Racing. The team is close to signing another professional driver, and is looking for an additional driver of the correct calibre to complete the three-driver line-up.
