RYAN Fisher will look to put himself in the shop window having agreed to compete in Newport's season-opening Prince Of Wales Trophy on March 19.The American star is without a club for the coming season after three successful years at Edinburgh, and is one of two visiting riders named for the event so far along with new Sheffield signing Shane Parker.Newport general manager Laurence Rogers said: "Ryan contacted me to let me know that he was over from the States at the beginning of the season and asked if he could take part in the Prince of Wales Trophy to remind British Speedway that he is available."Ryan has an excellent record in these events at Newport so we are pleased to announce that he will be involved. Not forgetting Shane, who is the new Sheffield number one and performed well here for Somerset last season."

MILDENHALL youngster Joe Jacobs has set himself the target of becoming the club's top rider this season.Jacobs returns to the revived West Row club after seeing out the National League campaign last year at Rye House, and he now wants to catch the eye of bosses at the next level.He said: "I am looking forward to getting back to Mildenhall where the fans are so friendly and supportive. My aim this year is to get my hands on that number one race jacket and be in the running for a Premier League place."
