DHL to sponsor Andretti Autosport Indycar outfit

DHL has become the official shipping and logistics partner of the Andretti Autosport Indycar team for 2011. The deal, which will see Ryan Hunter-Reay’s car painted in DHL’s corporate colours of yellow, red and white this year, is believed to have a seven-figure overall value. DHL will be co-primary sponsor of Hunter-Reay’s car and an associate sponsor on the car of the team’s new English driver Mike Conway.

The new livery will be revealed at a special ceremony at DHL’s Florida headquarters in Plantation on Tuesday 8th March, ahead of the opening race of the season in St. Petersburg on Sunday 27th March. Part of the sponsorship package will include VIP hospitality access for DHL and its customers in key markets, as well as value-in-kind services.

Wolfgang Giehl, DHL’s senior vice president for corporate branding, said: "We’re pleased to sponsor this winning motorsports team which provides an excellent opportunity to promote the DHL brand and align with Andretti Autosport in U.S. and global markets.”

John Lopes, chief marketing officer of Andretti Autosport, added: “This is a partnership that was born out of our great, long-standing relationship with DHL’s North American supply chain division, Exel. As a global industry leader, DHL is a brand that we are proud to add to our portfolio. We look forward to developing this relationship and helping DHL strengthen its brand presence and international specialty positioning.”.
