WOLVERHAMPTON have organised a week of team activities in the build-up to the new Elite League season. The Parrys International Wolves riders will be spending plenty of time together and a rock climbing session has been arranged - along with a tour of the famous Banks's Brewery the day after their opening fixture at Birmingham.Promoter Chris Van Straaten said: "We could have done it during the day of the Birmingham match (March 17) but I think a couple of the lads want to sample one or two of the drinks on offer!"So it's a busy time but the team will be spending a lot of time together which can only benefit them. The top five know each other pretty well anyway, but it won't take long for our American boys to settle in, I feel sure of that.

SEPTEMBER is now the deadline for work to start on a new speedway and greyhound stadium in Reading.Reading Borough Council has extended the timescale so that the firm behind the project, Gaming International, can obtain the necessary planning consents and engage contractors. The latest news was reported on BBC Radio Berkshire recently where reporter Allison Dawes said: "Smallmead Stadium closed in 2008, work on a replacement was due to have been completed by the middle of last year, but there have been continued delays."Many feared the closure of Smallmead could spell the end of racing in Reading, but the former promoters of the Reading Racers Speedway team have always maintained local people would like to see the sport return." ENDS to any IMS event in 2011 when accompanied by an adult general admission ticket holder.
