A combination of familiar names will return to motocross this weekend, as the Relentless Suzuki by TAS Team make their Maxxis British Motocross Championship debut at the Little Silver race track, near Exeter in Devon, with riders Gordon Crockard and Mel Pocock looking to start their seasons off in the best way possible.
With the TAS team returning to motocross and energy drink giant Relentless back in the sport, the team's experienced pairing of Crockard and Pocock are eager to get their 2011 season assault going, after a long winter of testing.
Team manager, Adam Lyons: "It's been a long road to get here, but we are absolutely delighted to bring the TAS and Relentless names back to motocross. With Gordon we have a hugely experienced and talented rider who still has incredible hunger. He's impressed hugely in seasons past with little support, so in our team with the backing of Suzuki and the proven RM-Z450 I truly believe special things really are possible. Equally in Mel we have a talented rider with great ambition. He's proven he has the drive and determination and has impressed us over the winter with his performance and times on the RM-Z250. With these riders and the infrastructure we've built around them, we believe we have a winning package this season."
With Crockard flying Suzuki GB's hopes in MX1 and Pocock in MX2, both riders are confident of strong starts to the season after a winter of testing and practice.
Gordon Crockard: "As I said when I agreed terms with Adam and the team, this is a great opportunity for me this season, riding for a professionally run team, all with history in the sport. To be able to simply concentrate on my racing this season is not just a nice luxury, but is also a great benefit which I believe offers me one of the best opportunities of my career. Over the winter, I've spent some time out in Spain training, so I'm feeling bike-fit, raring to go and really confident for Little Silver. I can't wait."
Mel Pocock: "Like Gordon said, this is a great opportunity for me and to fly the flag for Suzuki in MX2 is an honour. We've spent a lot of time riding over the winter, most recently tyre testing this week at Desertmartin and I've got a good feeling with the RM-Z250. I finished all races inside the top-ten last season at Little Silver, so I'm hoping that with the RM-Z250 I can be as consistent, but further up the order".
