(SPEEDWAY 1) BIRMINGHAM star Ales Dryml is set for further tests on his shoulder to determine the extent of the injuries he suffered at Peterborough last week. Dryml broke a rib and punctured a lung in an horrific Heat 14 crash, and has now returned to the Czech Republic to assess the shoulder damage. Brummies boss Graham Drury said: “Due to the lung injury, he is unable to fly for two weeks, so he’s got his mechanic to drive him to Prague to see his usual doctor, and on Wednesday the surgeons will be opening his shoulder up to see what the damage is. “Until that operation takes place, we won’t know what the long-term prognosis is, so whilst at the minute we’re using rider-replacement for him, if we feel going forward that he’s going to be out for any length of time then I will scour the world to see if I can get a replacement in for him.” (SPEEDWAY 2) BEN Barker says he is determined to use this week’s Test series to put himself in the frame for a place in the World Cup in July. Great Britain face Australia at Poole on Wednesday and at Lakeside on Friday and Barker, who is in terrific form for both Birmingham and Plymouth, feels this is the big opportunity to impress national boss Neil Middleditch. He said: “I want to be in the World Cup and these are the meetings you have got to shine in, carrying the Union Jack on your chest! “I have done Under-21 stuff but I’ve never rode for GB at senior level, although they haven’t had many matches since I’ve been riding. I haven’t done any World Cup meetings either, and that’s what I want to do.” (FIXTURES)
