JRM Racing gets set for its home run

FIA GT1 World Championship - Round Five Preview Silverstone, Northamptonshire, England 4th & 5th June 2011

Next weekend's fifth round of the FIA GT1 World Championship at Silverstone is the global GT series' one and only appearance in the UK and therefore, is an event in the season's ten-round calendar that JRM Racing would really like to win, as it represents the East-Sussex-based team's home event.

After achieving a milestone Championship Race victory in round three at Portimäo in May, Michael Krumm and Lucas Luhr - who drive the team's Nissan GT-R no. 23- were accredited with an additional 35 kilos of success ballast for round four a week later in Germany. However, with the Sachsenring Circuit not suiting the car as well as the Algarve track, the German pair had a frustrating weekend on their home soil, finishing in ninth and eleventh place in the weekend's two races.

Therefore, with the ballast now removed, Krumm and Luhr are hoping that Silverstone's fast, sweeping corners and long straights will bring out the best in their Nissan GT-R. Even so, they are aware that strong competition will come from the other teams, with many of the drivers on the grid more familiar with the Northamptonshire track - including their team-mates.

Also hoping to return to their success in Portugal, when they won the weekend's Qualifying Race, is the British paring in car 22 of Peter Dumbreck and Richard Westbook. It goes without saying that their motivation to win will be even greater than ever this weekend: as well as Silverstone being their home track, the Championship Race is also the event where the winners are presented with the coveted Tourist Trophy - the oldest perpetual award in motorsport.

I addition to seeing its GT1 Nissans in action on the track, spectators will also be able to view a range of other competition and performance cars manufactured by the JRM Group. These include a selection of its rally, race, drift, drag, track-day and tuned road cars, which will be on display in the paddock area.

Following the Free Practice and Pre-Qualifying sessions on Friday, the competitive action kicks off with Qualifying on Saturday at 11.30, followed by the first of the weekend's two one-hour races at 16.15. There's then a short warm-up session at 09.00 on Sunday morning, before the main Championship and Tourist Trophy Race at 14.45.

Both races can be watched live on the team's webpage: www.jrm-racing.comhttp://www.jrm-racing.com/

Team Quotes

Peter Dumbreck (Car 22)"I always look forward to a home race and there is no doubt that Silverstone, with it's fast flowing corners and wide track, will suit the GT-R. I hope we have a nice dry weekend and a large crowd to cheer us on. Of course, to win the Tourist Trophy would be very special, but I don't think we need any more motivation than we already have, as the year has the title of "World Champion" at the end of it."

Richard Westbrook (Car 22)"This is the one race of the year I've been looking forward to the most. Not just because it's our home event, but also because it's one of the best circuits to drive. We started well in Abu Dhabi, then didn't score in the next two Championship Races in Belgium and Portugal, so with just a few points scored in Germany, this is a pivotal weekend for us if we want to remain in contention for the championship. It's therefore a great opportunity for us to turn things in our favour."

Michael Krumm (Car 23)"We are confident that Silverstone will suit us better than Sachsenring. However, it's easy to make a mistake in the new and high-speed sections. When you push just a little bit too much here, you are off the track and the lap is ruined, so keeping it just a little bit under the limit is going to be the key. It's the team's home event and it's the Tourist Trophy meeting, which provides extra motivation, as Silverstone is a place with big tradition and I really would like to win here. But so do all the Brits, so it's going to be an extra-tough battle this time."

Lucas Luhr (Car 23)"This will be my first race at Silverstone and, as I have always thought of the track as the home of motorsport, it will be very special for me. From what I hear the circuit will be better for us than in Germany, so I am looking forward to driving the Nissan GT-R here and being able to get the best from it."

Nigel Stepney (Team Manager and Chief Engineer) "There's no doubt that Silverstone will provide a better opportunity for our cars than that of Sachsenring. However, because of its high-speed corners from the old track, combined with the slower ones on the new section, it's going to be vitally important to get the set-ups just right. Even though it's our home round, it's still going to be a tough weekend if we are to come out on top."

James Rumsey (Team Principal)"It's Silverstone, it's Britain and, of course, to win at your home event is what every team wants. We know that the Nissan GT-R is capable, but it's never that easy. After the results we have achieved so far this season and, with the calibre of drivers we have with us this year, I am sure we go to Silverstone with a target on our backs."
