Harvey creates new Carrera Cup GB driver opportunity

Tim Harvey has created an opportunity for a new driver to join the Porsche Carrera Cup GB this season by stepping down from driving for the remaining UK races. It is confirmed that Kieran Vernon now joins the Motorbase Performance team and, under Harvey's guidance, will compete in his first Carrera Cup race this Saturday, 4 June, at Oulton Park.

Harvey, the most successful driver in the history of Carrera Cup GB with 35 wins and 106 podiums, continues his involvement with the championship. He will compete in the Porsche Carrera World Cup race at the Nürburgring in June and will represent his team and sponsors at every remaining UK race, while also providing driver coaching to Vernon.

Vernon was selected for a Porsche scholarship in 2011 but unfortunately was unable to fully meet the scholarship terms and conditions to start the season yet following Harvey's decision, and with Motorbase support, Vernon can now finally begin his career in the Porsche Carrera Cup and continue running the Number One car this year.

This year’s Porsche Carrera Cup GB has both quality and quantity with more potential race winners than ever before, as an influx of new drivers joined established aces like Tim Harvey (Champion in 2008 and 2010), James Sutton (Champion in 2007) and Michael Caine (Championship Runner-up in 2008 and 2010). Former 2010 scholarship winners, Michael Meadows and Euan Hankey have enjoyed success already this season with podium places and race wins, and this year's scholar, Benji Hetherington, took fifth place in his third ever Carrera Cup race at Donington Park
