A small part from just a few euros ruined Chris van der Drifts race weekend in Monaco. After a promising start of his World Series Formula Renault 3.5 season, the 25 year old Kiwi hoped to shine in Monaco as well. But a small part of the throttle broke at the beginning of free practice which caused loosing valuable track time and a difficult qualifying session. Van der Drift didn't go home completely empty handed, an eight place and four points is better than nothing.

"Free practice was very short and that gave us a huge disadvantage for qualifying", says Van der Drift. "We also suffered from some brake problems, so we couldn't do much better." Chris started his race as sixteenth on the grid. In the narrow street circuit of Monaco it's important to keep out of trouble as the barriers are very close. "So we did and moved up to eight. Scoring a few points is better than none, but it's a shame we had bad luck. Especially because I really like street circuits to race on and I know I could have been on the podium!"
