If Filippi gave a clear message in Practice 1, in the second session it was team Lazarus who gave a clear answer: the Italian team indeed placed both its driver at the top of the timesheets, with Crestani posting an impressive 1’34”741 that improved the best time from the morning practice by 1 full second, so managing to stay ahead of his team mate Onidi by just 1 tenth.
It was a stunning performance from the team managed by Tancredi Pagiaro, with the Italian duo now looking to a clean sweep for tomorrow’s qualifying. Behind them was Luca Filippi, the last driver to break the 1’35 mark with a quick SuperNova car. Filippi kept at bay Auto GP’s wild bunch of rookies: Kevin Ceccon, Giovanni Venturini and Samuele Buttarelli, who already had amazing performances in Monza, confirmed that they are competitive also here in Hungary securing places from P4 to P6 with really packed laptimes, and managed to stay ahead of Rodolfo Gonzalez, already at ease with the Auto GP car.
Good performance again from Haryanto, who was the quickest of the DAMS drivers ahead of Afanasiev and Tambay. Anyway the Frenchman didn’t use new tyres, and nor did Bruno Mendez and Marco Barba, who finished 9th and 13th respectively. Considering that even with old rubber they weren’t far from the lead, they will surely have a chance for the front rows.
Fabrizio Crestani: “I’m happy because the laptime came easily, and I even lost half a second due to traffic. Anyway I’m sure that tomorrow it will be much harder, also because those who didn’t use new tyres today were quick enough, and tomorrow they will have one spare set…”.Tancredi Pagiaro (Lazarus): “We know that it’s Tomorrow that counts, but placing two cars in front is always a good feeling. We are also happy to see that both Crestani and Onidi are really focused, and they are pushing each other to give his best. We had a good start, now we must keep momentum”.
