Round 5: Mourne Rally, 4 June
Kenny McKinstry secured his fifth win from five events so far this year on the Mourne Rally.
McKinstry was fastest on SS1 but spun on the second test and lost the lead to George Robinson on the third. It wasn’t until SS6 that McKinstry was able to overhaul Robinson and re-take the lead, which he maintained to the finish.
Robinson was second, albeit 44 seconds in arrears after encountering electrical problems on his Subaru Impreza. The final podium place went to Drew Stewart, who was also the top two-wheel-drive runner.
