Lola at Le Mans - If anyone can, Kaffer can

Long renowned as one of the most rapid sports car drivers of his generation, Pierre Kaffer is relishing the opportunity to race the Pecom Racing Lola-Judd in this years Le Mans 24 Hours.

The Swiss domiciled German has deep AF Corse (the team that runs Pecom Racing) roots in GT racing, but is now fully focused on the LMP2 challenge.

"I have known Luiz Perez for a long time and I drove with AF Corse together with him in Spa 24 hrs in 2009," says Kaffer." I love the AF Corse/Pecom team because it is like a family and Luis asked me for advice about an LMP project because of my past experience with Audi. So now I am really enjoying the Lola. Its a very good car and very easy to drive. "

Kaffer also has a special relationship with Le Mans after finishing a spirited 5th in 2004 when he, Allan McNish and Frank Biela fought back from an early accident.

"That was a mega race but I also won the GT2 class with Risi Competizione in 2009 and last year we were leading but retired at midnight. That was a big shame for everybody so this year I'm really looking forward to finishing the race in the Lola LMP2 car and hopefully getting a good class result."

For Pierre, the challenge of Le Mans is all consuming and the fully trained mechanic believes in the true spirit of the worlds greatest race, saying. "Le Mans is always unique, always special and for a new team in the LMP category we need to learn and focus for a good result. I think we are a strong team so I think for the 24 hrs, the team, Lola and Judd can cause a real stir in the LMP2 class. "
