SCOTT Nicholls clinched his sixth British title in a dramatic Final at Wolverhampton.Swindon star Nicholls shot past great rival Chris Harris as the deciding race was concluded at the third time of asking – the first running having seen all four riders come to grief on the first bend.Harris finished second with Tai Woffinden third having won all of his qualifying rides, whilst Edward Kennett crashed out in the second running of the Final.Nicholls said: “I'm a happy bunny, that's a great result for me and it means so much to be British Champion again. I didn't feel particularly quick going into the final and it was a hard race with Chris but I managed to pull it off and I'm just really, really happy."

TAI Woffinden was in philosophical mood after coming agonisingly close to a first British Championship.Woffinden, recently back from a broken shoulder, ignored the pain from another heavy crash to reach the Final with a 15-point maximum. He was then a victim of both incidents which led to the race being stopped, before he had to follow Scott Nicholls and Chris Harris home and settle for third place.Woffinden said: “I'm pleased with my performance but I missed out when it mattered most in the Final and that's speedway. I'd like to thank my mum, my mechanic and my sponsors for all their support and I'm quite happy. I'll be back for the title next season!”

KING’S Lynn boss Rob Lyon says the Stars have exceeded all expectations so far in their first Elite League campaign. The Norfolk Arena side are preparing to host Belle Vue on Wednesday having gone second in the table after taking a point at leaders Eastbourne last weekend.Lyon said: “I don’t think anybody would have predicted us to be in second place and ahead of the league favourites at any point this season. I always said if we could sneak into the play-offs in our first season then that would be a real achievement, but so far what we have done is actually mind-blowing. “Not one of the riders actually fears any other team and we all have the belief that we can beat anybody. Belle Vue will be far from a pushover as they proved on their last visit here, but I am sure we can overcome them.”(SPEEDWAY 4)

BELLE Vue Colts have signed Stockport-born Charles Wright, who will make his debut in the home fixture against Stoke on Wednesday.Wright, recently released by Premier League Workington, comes in as a temporary replacement for injured No.1 Byron Bekker, who cracked his shoulder blade last week.Wright is the third member of his family to race for Belle Vue following his grandfather Jim Yacoby and elder brother James.Colts co-boss Graham Goodwin said: “We think it's a win-win situation for all concerned.  We have a top quality replacement for Byron until he's fit without having to rely on guests.  Meanwhile Charles is able to keep racing, regain some confidence, and put himself in the shop window for PL clubs.”(FIXTURES)
