Physiotheraphy student becomes grid girl for the weekend

A Physiotheraphy student, Charlie McFarlane, from Caledonian University has won a once in a lifetime opportunity to be a grid girl for the Motorpoint Yamaha British Superbike team this weekend at Knockhill circuit.

Charlie, 19, had a taste of promotional work when she went on a life-changing road trip with her father and her friends to massive bike shows across Europe when she was 18. The student was the centre of attention in Milan and Cologne as she posed for photos on the stand that her father’s company set up. This road trip gave Charlie a step into the world of motorsport and the bikes that she loves.

The girl from the Dumfries and Galloway area of Scotland will now take a step into one of the highest regarded Superbike leagues in the world at the famous Knockhill circuit. The car supermarket giant Motorpoint launched the search for grid girls on their Facebook page – facebook.com/motorpoint - before the start of the season and when Charlie saw the opportunity she leapt at the chance.

Says Charlie: “My dad works for a company that was at the motorshow in Milan and Cologne and he took me and my friends along. He knows that I love everything to do with bikes and sport so I had a brilliant experience. It was just me, my dad and my friends in a small van travelling across Europe – what an experience! When I saw the opportunity to be a grid girl for Motorpoint I sent in my application straight away. Now I’m going to be part of the action again and I can’t wait!”
