(SPEEDWAY 1)COVENTRY co-boss Alun Rossiter admitted some sympathy for rivals Poole, who were reduced to just four riders in the clash of last season’s Elite League Finalists at Brandon.A solid-scoring Bees side made it six points out of six in four days with a 49-42 win as they continue to chase the top four, as the Pirates suffered a series of crashes.Rossiter said: “I did feel a little bit for Poole because I’ve been in that situation and it’s not nice, but you have to take your luck when it comes.“We did go back to some our old ways with a few problems which we do need to sort out quickly, but we’ll certainly take the three points and when you look down our scores there were still some very good ones.”(SPEEDWAY 2)POOLE are awaiting several medical bulletins ahead of their home clash with Lakeside on Wednesday.Darcy Ward, Jason Doyle and Kyle Newman all crashed out of the Pirates’ 49-42 defeat at Coventry on Monday, with promoter Matt Ford paying tribute to his remaining riders for remaining in contention until the final race.Ford said: “When you consider that we went to tapes in three of the heats with just one rider and in two of those we failed to gain a finisher, to come within just one point of a consolation tonight shows the heart that these lads have for the cause.“You have to really feel for young Kyle. He was looking very good having combined with Renat (Gafurov) in Heat 2 for a 5-1 to put us ahead, and was then in the hunt again in Heat 4 until he lost control under pressure from Eddie Kennet. Let's hope that his knee injury will prove not to be as bad as first feared, and hopefully there will be encouraging news on Jason and Darcy too.”(SPEEDWAY 3)PETERBOROUGH boss Trevor Swales blasted his side after they threw away a chance to close the gap on the Elite League’s top four at Belle Vue.The Panthers were defeated 53-40 at Kirkmanshulme Lane with Polish duo Norbert Kosciuch and Krzysztof Buczkowski scoring just one point between them.Swales said: “We were totally let down by the middle order, there are two or three riders tonight who have lost the meeting for us. It doesn’t take a genius to work out who they are.”Acting Belle Vue boss Chris Morton said: “I was very pleased with the way the lads turned this meeting round because we didn't take the lead until Heat 8. This could prove a pivotal match in our season and there are quite a few teams in with a shout of the play-offs and this kept things alive for us.”(SPEEDWAY 4)WOLVERHAMPTON No.1 Freddie Lindgren admitted to mixed feelings after his side were put out of the Knockout Cup by Eastbourne at Monmore Green. The Eagles secured a 45-45 draw for a ten point aggregate win, to get the better of Wolves in the competition for the second year running – despite a 15-point maximum from Lindgren. The Swede said: “It’s disappointing to go out of the cup and we could have done better but you have to remember Eastbourne are a really strong team.“From my own point of view I’m delighted with a maximum, I felt really good. You have to be happy with 15-points!”(FIXTURES)
