Link Up Ltd MSA British Autotest Championship

Kegworth Loughborough Autotest, 4 September

Steven Ferguson’s absence from the final round of the championship didn’t stop him from being crowned the 2011 MSA British Autotest Champion.

Richard Pinkney was the only man who could deny Stephens the title, but needed a large class entry to do so. When it became clear that the class numbers would not be sufficient, Stephens knew that the title was his and that he didn’t need to make the trip to the last round from his home in Northern Ireland.

In the event outgoing champion Alastair Moffatt took his first victory of the year. Richard Pinkney picked up a ‘maximum’ on Test 3, costing him 20 seconds, but recovered to second in class, just under 10 seconds behind the Caterham of Simon Echlin.Results1 Alastair Moffatt (Mini Special) 795.62 Simon Echlin (Caterham 7) 811.93 Richard Pinkney (Caterham 7) 821.8
