Auto GP to hold promotional test in late October
The 2011 Auto GP season isn’t over yet (Mugello circuit will host the last round in two weeks time) but the Series staff is already working at full steam on 2012. After announcing a draft calendar with three Intercontinental trips that has raised a lot of interest, the Organization has now set the date for the first pre-season test, that is going to take place in Italy at the end of October. On 26 and 27 October the Teams will gather on the Magione track, in central Italy, for a two-day test that will be pretty special: thanks to an effort from the Organization and the Series Official Suppliers, the Teams will get the chance to invite those drivers that they feel are the most deserving and interesting ones to sample the car at a really low cost, just 5.000 euros for an half-day session.Having a full morning or afternoon session at their disposal, the drivers will have all the time they need to get acquainted with the car and to experience the professional working method of the Auto GP Teams, taking part in the technical briefings and analysing the telemetry data with the engineers. Upon request, the drivers will also have the possibility to run on the Simulator at the nearby Coloni Motorsport workshop, so to be even better prepared for the following track test. The Organization will issue invitations itself, choosing the most talented drivers from International and National Championships. This way, the best young talents will get the chance to test one of the most appreciated cars in motorsport. Enzo Coloni: “We’re still waiting to know who the 2011 Auto GP champion will be, but the teams already have a lot of enquiries from drivers for a 2012 drive, and most of them are asking a chance to test. So, knowing that the current season has already put a strain on their budgets, we decided together with our Teams and our Suppliers to create this special testing opportunity, finding what we think is an ideal solution. We strongly believe that the excellent technical package and the Teams’ professionalism are among the strongest points of Auto GP, and in an half-day session the drivers will have time to experience both.Furthermore, with such a low cost for the test, teams will choose drivers not looking to their budgets alone but also taking their talent into consideration, opening some very good opportunities for 2012".
