Australia, Shannons Supercars Showdown
The final three contestants on Shannons Supercars Showdown will be put to the test behind the wheel of a Kelly Racing V8 Supercar at Winton Motor Raceway in this Sunday's episode at 5pm on 7mate. Andrew Jordan, Cameron Waters and Samantha Reid will each be assessed by judges Todd and Rick Kelly as well as the team's race engineers, with one driver eliminated to leave just two drivers vying for victory in the final episode on Sunday October 2. This Sunday's episode will also be the first time fans get to see the livery for the #77 Shannons Mars Racing Commodore that the winning contestant will race at the Supercheap Auto Bathurst 1000 alongside the show's host Grant Denyer on October 6-9. "These final two episodes are when things get really serious," said two-time Bathurst winner Rick Kelly. "This episode is the first time we put the contestants behind the wheel of a V8 Supercar and really get to test their ability in the car the winner will race at Bathurst. "To test a V8 Supercar is a big buzz and a massive opportunity for any young racing driver. "In this instance Andy, Cam and Sam are not only coming to grips with a 640-horsepower V8 Supercar, they are also testing for an opportunity to compete at Bathurst, the biggest motor race in Australia, so the pressure could not be more intense. Kelly said that the Shannons Mars Racing livery was different to the team's existing liveries. "This Sunday's episode is the first time that fans will get to see our Shannons Mars Racing Commodore and we're really pleased with how it looks," said Kelly. "We have the black and white Jack Daniel's Commodores, our Stratco 'red rocket' and of course the ever-changing colours of the Pepsi Max Crew - and the Shannons Mars Commodore is completely different again." It will be a Shannons Supercar Showdown marathon on 7mate this Sunday, with Episode 1 screening at 12:30pm followed by each episode all the way up to 5pm when the latest episode (Episode 10 - the second-last episode of the series) airs in the usual timeslot.
